THE EAGLE’S NEST OVERLOOKING BANCROFT
Climb atop the Eagle’s Nest Bancroft for a breath-taking view of the York River Valley. Located above down town Bancroft, off Hastings Street North, it’s not something you’ll want to miss. Check out some photos!
The cliff was named the Eagle’s Nest by Bancroft’s early citizens, due to the fact that there was a nest belonging to a pair of Eagles in one of the pine trees near the edge. The Eagles departed long ago, but the name remains.
Interesting fact: William Gaebel was once assigned the task of obtaining an egg from the Eagles nest. He was indeed successful in his undertaking.
