LOCAL EVENTS AND THE ARTS

Arts Festival - Bancroft

The festival committee is working hard on the preparation of the first annual multi-disciplinary arts festival slated for August. This three-day event will feature many local demonstrating artists and performers and will be great fun for the whole family.

Art Festival - Bancroft is one of the ways the AAC is promoting visual, theatrical, musical and literary artists in one large event.

Art Gallery of Bancroft

The Bancroft Art Gallery is located beside the Bancroft & District chamber of Commerce in the old train station on Station Street in Bancroft.

The gallery provides a new exhibit every month with an "opening night" evening usually held the first Friday of each month. Many local artists are featured in these exhibits and their works are also available in the gallery gift shop.

Other shows throughout the year feature well-known artists from outside of our area, which is an excellent way to expose local art enthusiasts to what is happening elsewhere.

Bancroft & Area Art & Craft Guild
This group of artisans and craftspeople has been active in hosting two shows each year for the past few years. Each summer and early winter their shows are well attended and feature exhibits from many local artisans and craftspeople.

Madoc & Area Artisans Guild

One of the AAC's newest member organizations, this group of talented individuals represent the Madoc area artists and have a great deal of programs and festivals underway.

All Madoc and area artists and craftspeople are encouraged to become members of this group that will be sponsoring so many art initiatives in Central Hastings .

Maynooth Madness Loggers Games

Features the Maynooth Loggers Parade, Loggers Games, Country Mile Run, all you can eat pancake breakfast, coffee, donuts, church lunch, rummage, bake and craft sale, fine arts & crafts displays, kids play area & attractions, horseshoe tournament, Bingo, beer garden, barn dance - and a whole lot more!

North Hastings Community Choir
Our local choir of close to 70 members is conducted by award-winning arranger, composer and conductor Howard Daer. Howard's unique arrangements ensure that every concert offers something different.

The choir meets every week to prepare for several concerts throughout the year, all of which are well attended. The choir is always looking for new members to come out and have some fun with music in a variety of styles.

Rockhound Gemboree

The 47th Annual Rockhound Gemboree to be held July 29 - Aug 1, 2010 at the North Hastings Community Centre, Bancroft. For further information, please call 888-443-9999.

Septemberfest
Septemberfest is held at the Bancroft Millennium Park each year. 2007 will the seventh year of festivities. Some events at the festival include a Classic Car Display, Craft Show and Sale, and of course Evening Entertainment. Be sure not to miss the fun this year!

Studio Tours
The Studio Tours are held once a year in the fall, and are an event in which local artists display their creations. You not only get to see the talent that lies in the people of Bancroft, but while driving to their various locations, you experience the beautiful fall colours. York River Reading Festival (YRRF)

The YRRF provides an excellent evening of literature every fall at the Playhouse that features a renowned Canadian author, local poetry readings, and more!

The proceeds from the festival go toward books for area school and help the YRRF to host a children's literary even in the winter.
