Does anyone think having a section where people can post their family history would a good idea? Either stories, or just names and dates of when family members arrived to the area, where they came from, where they lived, you could even upload old photos. It may help out someone looking for a long lost relative. What does everyone think? Good idea...or bad?

Hello Jetta.. being relatively new to the area, this may be a good idea to see where all the common names you see on so many businesses etc in Bancroft have derived from. Are they long time families, or families who came, fall in love with the town, then stayed? You seem very interested in the town, is your family a long time one or do you just live here?

To Laureen. Yes,my family is one of the pioneer ones, although they settled in Dungannon twp, rather than the village. As in the history, given in the introduction of this site, many of the street names, were after the famous. Flint, was after Billa Flint first reeve of Belleville,in 1836,who later became a Senator. Monck Rd,was named after one of our early Governor Generals. Is there a specific street name that intrigued you? Oh,by the way,I no longer live in the area, but reside now in Belleville. However I look forward to other questions. John A.D.McLean
